A Task Befitting God Alone

Just as an artist who finds the portrait he drew ruined by the negligent stains of others, would call back the model he used to redraw the portrait, so did God. To restore His image that had been corrupted within us, only Christ, the true source of this image could rebuild it.

X  (The Gregorian Liturgy) “Neither an angel, nor an arch-angel, nor a patriarch nor a prophet did You entrust with our salvation. But You without change (compromise), were incarnated and became Man, assuming our likeness in everything, save for sin alone.”

X  (On The Incarnation, by St. Athanasius) The renewal of creation has been wrought by the same Word who made it in the beginning.

This great work was, indeed, supremely worthy of the goodness of God. The rescue of mankind from corruption was the proper action only of Him who made them in the beginning.

X  (1 Tim 3:16 NKJV) Without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh
