It is at this stage that children learn to
fit past events in sequential order. Maps and time charts help students
place Bible stories and church history stories in order: Abraham was before
Moses, and Moses before David.
Working with juniors means working with
their parents. It is difficult for a teacher to build discipline in a
child’s life if the child is undisciplined at home. There is greater
emphasis on the role of the father at home. He is the spiritual head who can
give the child direction and guide his loyalty to Christ. The father is also
someone whom the child can admire, and who can provide security through
discipline, and be an example of serving the Lord and depending on Him.
Sunday school teachers can supplement but not supplant the role of Christian
dads at home. |
