Proclaiming Our Faith

Saint Paul commands us:

X  (1 Cor 11:26) “For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.”

We cannot keep this great treasure as a hidden secret. This is why we sing, “Amen, amen, amen; Your death O Lord do we preach. Your holy resurrection and ascension we confess.” We are asked to do so every time we partake of the sacrament until the Lord comes back. The Lord Himself asked us to do so in His remembrance (Luke 22:19) & (1 Cor 11:24). The original word “remembrance” in Greek is “anamnesis” which means to bring to mind or to relive. We relive the Lord’s death first in our own lives, by dying to this world and its attractions; and by dying to sin and its lusts. Then we seek to proclaim this to others by showing them our lives as a model of the Lord’s death. This is how we preach His death and confess His resurrection.

How should our behavior be like after receiving communion?
